How many hashtags should you use???
How many hashtags are you using??? 30? 20? 15? or 5???
A few weeks ago, Instagram’s Creator page posted a suggested hashtag number use. And guess what the number magic is!
It’s between 3-5!
You hear it right. After a few months of suggesting 10-15, they have now reduced the magic number for hashtags, and yes, that’s 3 to 5.
So wait, wait, are they telling us we can’t grow using all 30 hashtags anymore? Or are they telling us to be more specific with the hashtags we use??
Along with that post, it was suggested (and it’s also been known) to mix well-known hashtags and niche hashtags. And this, by far, is true and tested. BUT the more specific your hashtags are, the more chances it is shown on the feeds or explore pages of your targeted audience. Andddd because they are your targeted audience, or the kind of followers you are hoping for, they are more inclined to follow you and check out your content more.
So why 3 to 5 hashtags? Should you use only 3 to 5??
I seriously don't know. Lol! And if you are to ask Instagram experts, they would probably tell you the same thing. Experiment with what works for you. There's no specific formula.
Try 3 to 5 of 10-15, or max it out to 30. BUT make sure and see to it that the hashtags you use are relevant to each other and very relevant to the post.
Or again, if you don't use hashtags, use compelling SEO-friendly keywords/phrases in your caption.
3 to 5 is a guide. Use whatever number works for you.
